According to Lancaster research, damaged DNA in cells manifests as aging, and the best way to prevent aging before it begins is to protect your DNA through a system of “dermal renewal” that results in an 85% increase in radiance and smoothness and an 82% increase in “permanently younger looking skin” after the Lancaster regimen has been in place for an undisclosed period of time (independent vendors claim 28 days, but this is not stated on the official website).

The Lancaster 365 Cellular Elixer is designed to work with and recreate the skin’s natural, youthful processes by protecting DNA from attacks by free radicals, highly reactive molecules that can damage skin cells and are believed to accelerate the aging process.

To use this elixir, apply 3 drops morning and night to clean skin. Then apply the regular Lancaster face cream.

My Review

The notion that your DNA determines how you age is not a new one. Your DNA plays a large part in how your body works at every stage of your life and dramatically impacts how your lifestyle affects your appearance, your bodily functions and your life span.

However, many of the things that are directly impacted by your DNA are not visible, although they do have visible results.

For example, when solar rays damage skin cells they actually incapacitate the enzymes that repair damaged DNA in those cells. With the demise of the enzymes, the cells start to deteriorate and may be more susceptible to damages like wrinkles, tears and skin cancer. It's possible that somehow the company has managed to either incorporate these enzymes into its products or fool the skin into producing similar enzymes to fix the damage.

However, since Lancaster has not released a list of active (or inactive, for that matter) ingredients in its treatments and does not address how it actually protects your DNA, investing in this treatment requires you to take a great deal of the research embodied in the product on faith. Furthermore, nowhere in its official web content does Lancaster address how its product repairs DNA or even if it does – you may be purchasing a glorified sunscreen that does nothing more than protect your from UVA and UVB rays.

All that being said, the results do indicate that for many, many people, the stuff is working. While some users do experience breakouts, most get immediate results that build over time just as the company promises. This would not be my first choice if I were buying wrinkle creams or antiaging treatments for the first time, but if other routes have already failed, then this innovative approach is certainly worth a shot.
