Phytomer Ogenage Expert Deep Wrinkle Eraser Emulsion

The Phytomer Ogenage Expert Deep Wrinkle Eraser Emulsion is a wrinkle filler and line eraser that is intended to smooth away wrinkles immediately on contact and, over time, decrease the appearance of lines and skin discoloration.
The wrinkle eraser has two main ingredients—marine mannitol and “optical filling agents”—that work in conjunction with maritime lavender supplements to produce temporary—and sometimes dramatic—results on contact.
The majority of Phytomer’s research is based in the ocean, and one of the company’s biggest discoveries is marine mannitol, which is made from algae and is believed to actually stimulate the production of natural fibers in facial tissues that make the skin firmer and more resilient.
The optical filling agents reflect light to diminish the appearance of wrinkles, which enables this product to truly erase wrinkles – at least temporarily. Maritime lavender, which is not listed by the Phytomer Corporation but is included in the list of ingredients provided by vendors, has been shown to smooth skin texture and also has beneficial stress-reducing effects.
The Phytomer Ogenage Expert Deep Wrinkle Eraser Emulsion comes in a long, silver tube that marketing materials describe as “discreet.” Its elongated tip enables precision application to deeper lines such as frown and brow furrows. Phytomer research reports “immediate smoothing” of wrinkles on 80% of volunteers and a decrease in wrinkle depth of up to 32% after daily use over a period of four weeks.
The wrinkle eraser is should be used twice a day before the application of your usual skin care cream. You must apply it directly to visible wrinkles and massage it into the affected area with a circular or vertical motion, depending on the direction of the wrinkle.
My Rating is: 2/5
Drawbacks:
While the temporary results may be impressive, this wrinkle remover may not be all that the research makes it appear to be.
- The test studies were done on a group of only 21 people, which renders the results too insignificant to be conclusive.
- Furthermore, this product cannot be purchased directly from the company, but can only be ordered in the United States via phone or email orders unless you wish to buy from a third party, which can be risky because third party vendors generally do not guarantee the freshness of their products.
- A tube of this cream contains only .5 ounces, so you need to use it sparingly to make it last.
Benefits:
This cream appears to have staggering results on the temporary repair front, and there is certainly some degree of scientific evidence to encourage an optimistic buyer.
- Marine mannitol is believed to increase the support fibers and collagen in the skin, which means that repeated use over time could improve facial appearance and increase skin’s firmness.
- The immediate results, while temporary, do have the potential to change one’s look at least in the short term.
- As far as anti-aging products go, this treatment is relatively inexpensive, and since there are solid reasons to believe that as a cosmetic it is extremely effective, it might be worth the risk and cost of running the experiment for yourself.
Price: $68.00 for 0.5 fluid ounces
Guarantee
- While Phytomer Openage Expert Deep Wrinkle Eraser Emulsion does not come with a formal guarantee, Phytomer does have a more general pledge to “guarantee complete tolerance for their products and better penetration of their active ingredients.” However, they do not specify what the response will be should you experience a negative reaction to one of their treatments. The company also pledges that they do not use animals for testing purposes and that all research and development is conducted with full respect for the environment, which is a pretty important promise since Phytomer professes to be the “uncontested expert in marine-based cosmetology” and houses the majority of its labs and spas directly on the ocean.
My Review
While scientific hypothesizing certainly suggests that this wrinkle remover should be effective, much of the hard evidence is lacking. While marine mannitol has been proven to stimulate new growth in mature plants and fungi, which implies that it might do the same for mature skin, there is little clinical research to fall back on. The sample studies are far too small to be conclusive, and the most impressive results of the cream seem to be entirely temporary.
Furthermore, while the “optical filling agents” will reflect light and make your wrinkles less noticeable, these results are basically cosmetic and disappear with the first splash of water. The difficulty of obtaining this treatment directly from the Phytomer Corporation is also something of a problem, but you can contact them using the phone number on their French website, which can be translated into English with a click of the mouse, or you can opt to order from a secondary seller and hope for the best.
As far as anti-aging and skin repair products go, this wrinkle remover probably represents an acceptable risk, if you want to try it. There are no harsh chemical agents, so you are not likely to damage your skin further by trying the treatment. Personally, I'd recommend LifeCell or one of the other winners of our best wrinkle cream awards.
